If God's love ..

"If God's love for his children is to be measured by our health, wealth, and comfort in this life,
God hated the apostle Paul."

If He was as civilized as most Christian people ...

"I grew up hearing everyone tell me 'God loves you'.
I would say big deal -- God loves everybody. That don't make me special!
That just proves that God ain't got no taste.
And I don't think He does. Thank God!
Because He takes the junk of our lives and He makes the most beautiful art of it.

And if He was cultured, if He was as civilized as most Christian people wish He was,
He would be useless to Christianity.
But God is a Wild Man, and I hope that the course of your life you encounter Him.
But let me warn you, you need to hang on for dear life,
or let go for dear life, maybe is better."
~Rich Mullins

The prime truth of woman, the universal mother

"She was maintaining the bold equilibrium of inferiorities which is the most mysterious
of superiorities and perhaps the most unattainable.
She was maintaining the prime truth of woman, the universal mother:
that if a thing is worth doing, it is worth doing badly."
~G.K. Chesterton

It plants the flag of truth

"We can ignore even pleasure. But pain insists upon being attended to.
God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pains:
It is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world...

No doubt pain as God's megaphone is a terrible instrument;
it may lead to final and unrepented rebellion.
But it gives the only opportunity the bad man can have for amendment.
It removes the veil; it plants the flag of truth within the fortress of the rebel soul."
~C.S. Lewis, The Problem of Pain

The all-sufficiency of the grace of God

"I would rather live on the verge of falling and let my security be the all-sufficiency of the grace of God than to live in some kind of pietistic illusion of moral excellence --
not that I don't want to be morally excellent,
but my faith isn't in the idea that I'm more moral than anybody else...
My faith is in the idea that God and His love are greater than whatever sins any of us commit."
~Rich Mullins
